There are a lot of diets for us to try and to help us lose weight, I personally do not like diets, I think we have to make life changes and not just a temporary diet. With my diabetes I have found the macronutrient counting helps my blood sugar levels. What I do is similar to the Zone diet, I just try and do it consistently.
Counting Macros is based on a daily calorie intake, then breaking the amount into Protein, Carbs and Fats. I am 40% Carbs, 30% Protein and 30% Fats. The following article from Men’s Health goes into more detail, What Is the Macro Diet?
This way of eating gives you a calorie count for the day, then as you break down the macros it all falls into place. I use an app on my phone which helps a lot. You adjust the calorie intake if you want to lose weight. You can make adjustments that help you the most.
