A Healthy Mind
A healthy mind is just as important as a healthy body. You may ask, how do you maintain a healthy mind? The mind is like any other muscle in the body, it needs to be worked to remain fit. Is your work challenging? Are you learning new skills? Is there time to read? Do you like puzzles? Working your mind keeps it sharp!
Is Your Job Challenging and Rewarding?
I have worked for the same company for over 30 years, but have held so many positions that I am not sure I can name them all. I tend to get bored with my job if it does not have new projects or challenging aspects to keep me interested. I have directed managers for a big portion of my career, I get asked about when I was a location manager, I was not a location manager for very long. To me doing the same tasks everyday just did not give me much of a challenge.

I work well on projects, change management or implementation. These tend to be more of an improving assignment.

We have to push ourselves to keep our minds sharp. I know this is not for everyone, but I am a firm believer that we need to push our comfort level and continue to grow. We are only moving up or we are moving back, no in between!
Exercising our minds can come in a many different forms. Reading happens to be one of my favorite go to activities. I read a lot of books on managing business, LEAN processes, the stock market or any self help. I find that adding to my skills is very beneficial for both my mind and my career.

Many people like word or number puzzles, with the millions of gaming apps out there, these are very easy and accessible.

I do have my down time and watch TV, but this is not something that takes a lot of my time. I have a LinkedIn Learning account which I am always using. I have always wanted to be better at photography, I have done many courses in the Learning app.
