Yearly Physical

Well I had my yearly physical today, and everything looks good! I have dropped my A1C from 5.9 to 5.1 in the last 4 months. I have also done this with a huge reduction in my insulin. My blood pressure is slowly dropping and getting better. I have dropped 15 pounds, while at the same time of growing more muscle. My cholesterol is in a good range except for the good HDL, it was off a little. My circulation was good and commented how good based on my diabetes. The Dr. said whatever I was doing keep doing it because these were the best numbers, she had seen with me.

I only post these numbers so you can see how working a program of eating healthy, exercising, and nutrients can help you. But what I really want to talk about is whether you are getting your yearly physical? How can you know if your health is in a good direction, or if a plan you are working is making a difference? I want to know that my effort is doing something for me.

There are so many people I have known in my life that refused to regularly go to the Doctor and later ended up with a major health crisis. To many people think that you can just eat right and do things to avoid the doctor, this is true but why not get the factual data to back this up. Also, it is good that you don’t have some major problem brewing. I think of the doctor as my car’s mechanic, I take care of my car, I clean it, I change the oil and I give it the proper maintenance to keep it running. I still have a mechanic check certain things and do major repairs if needed.

Someone once told me, “how can you win the lottery if you don’t buy a ticket?” this phrase comes to me often in different things in my life. Our health is an example, how can we know if our efforts our working for us if we don’t get ourselves checked, buy the ticket. Get yourself a physical and do it yearly so you can determine whether you are doing the right things for your health.
